Radio Telescopes

radio telescopes, VLA

These Radio telescopes, known as the Very Large Array (VLA),
are located just outside Socorro, New Mexico.
As someone with an interest in astronomy, (I have my own telescope)
I have wanted to see them for years.
I made the trip several years ago and it was “up close, and personal”.

More photos from my “The West” collection can be seen here – Rich Green Photography – The West.

Alien Planet

alien planet, Iceland, Hverarond

One does not have to leave Earth to visit an Alien Planet. I have been a student of astronomy and have dreamed about standing on a moon of Jupiter or some other planet. Not a candidate for the space program, plus the moon is the only place any humans have stood on, I’ve wanted to travel to destinations on Earth that resemble an alien planet. Antartica is one place but out of my price range. Iceland is not.
The above image was taken in the north, to the east of Lake Myvatn. The place is Hverarond. A geothermal spot noted for bubbling pools of mud and steaming fumaroles of sulfuric gas.
